About Brendan
This is a tribute to Brendan Burke. Brendan Burke was an athlete and the youngest son of Brian Burke, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs and of the US Olympic hockey team. In November 2009, he made international headlines for coming out and speaking out about tolerance and homophobia in professional sports.
Brendan Burke passed away on February 5th, 2010, at the age of 21 in an automobile accident. This is an online memorial dedicated to the life of Brendan Burke. May he rest in peace.
