This online tribute has been created to honor the life of Staff Sgt. Michael W. Hosey of Birmingham, Ala.
Michael Hosey passed away on 17th September 2011 in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan, after being attacked by insurgents. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Michael Hosey joined the Army in 2001 as a communications intelligence specialist. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 1 oak leaf clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp (2 Loops), the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with Campaign Star), the Iraq Campaign

Medal (with Campaign Star), the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with the Numeral 2, the Army Service Ribbon, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Medal. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal.
This memorial is dedicated to the life of Michael Hosey died a hero making the ultimate sacrifice for his country. May he never be forgotten.
