(1966 – 2013)
About Robert
Robert Lee Goldsmith Jr. passed away on March 3, 2013, at his home in Sparks NV after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family and his passing was a peaceful blessing after a painful existence. Robert was born in Selma, Alabama, on September 19, 1966, but spent most of his youth in Alaska. As a grown man he traveled extensively across the country and met his lovely bride in New Orleans. They chose the Reno area to be their permanent home. He was just 46 years old, far too young.
Robert was a brilliant man. He read voraciously and had a fund of knowledge that allowed him to converse intelligently on almost any subject. During his working years, he tried his hand at many things, searching for

that one thing that would be most fulfilling. He came closest with his printing business, delighting in setting up and providing paper, fabric and plastic items for sporting and other major events. His talent in the field was great and he was very disappointed when the partnership dissolved. He was diagnosed with his terminal illness in 2010. He did a few stints as a bartender in the casinos now and then when nothing else came his way. He was also one of the funniest men alive, making him a great companion, always the life of the party, right up to the very end. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and the family cats Sophie and Fiona.
Robert is survived by his dedicated wife Guadalupe Goldsmith,

Summer is here again, son. You loved summer. The family reunion with all your siblings has been moved back to summer next year, we have had a tough time, first losing you and now major medical problems for your BIL and your niece Grace. We need for you and your sister to send some special energy from your happy and peaceful home. You are so missed and still so loved by us all.

Bobby, Since you have grown up, everybody calls you Bob now. But, the last time I saw and talked to you, you were Bobby. So, Bobby, it is going to be! I am so sorry to know that you were so ill and had to leave your family at such a young age. I know that your mother is so sad at losing you. I have not had the opportunity to meet your sweet wife, but I am sure she is also very sad at your passing. Twenty-one years is a longggg time. I'm pleased that you

Thanks to your sister's memorial page, we now have many, many pictures of you, your siblings, your father, your grandparents. Your 3rd cousin Susan Jackson Nelson stumbled across your sister's page and realized her grandmother and Gale's grandmother were sisters. I hadn't really intended to make a trip to Reno this spring. I guess you decided that it was time. I have been brooding and distressed for weeks now. Your sister, once again, answered an important question for me. I've been fretful about letting Bob Sr's family know about your passing. I went to her page and found a recent post that led me straight to your grandparents. They have been wondering through the years what happened to our family. Susan remembers you quite well when you were in Alabama before you met your sweet Lupe.
