About Matt
Sergeant Matthew Telford of the Grenadier Guards was one of five soldiers killed by a rogue Afghan policeman on 3rd November, 2009. He was killed with two colleagues from the Grenadier Guards and two from the Royal Military Police. Another six British soldiers were wounded in the incident.
Sergeant Telford was 37 years of age and had been in the Grenadier Guards since the age of 16 years. He had been serving in Afghanistan since September and had been involved in the training of Afghan forces.
He was from Grimsby and leaves a wife, Kerry, and two young sons aged four and nine.
