About Phillip
Serjeant* Phillip Scott of the 3rd Battalion the Rifles was killed in an explosion near Sangin, Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 5th November, 2009.
Serjeant Scott was born in Malton in 1979, he joined the army in 2001 and could rightly be described as a career soldier. He is survived by his wife Ellen and their two children, Ellie aged 3 years and Michael aged 1 year. The family live in Edinburgh.
His wife Ellen said, "My husband was a very brave man, loved by all his family and a very dear husband and father."
*The spelling of serjeant in this way is unique to the Rifles.
